[Document] Life stories kit #33- “Foodies”
Hello all,
I am back to share the August #DLS Scrapdelight kit- “Foodies”. I already get the Main kit and the Embellishment kit but I somehow cannot resist to get the some of add-ons. This time I got two (‘Add-on #3’ and ‘Add-ink’). I was lucky enough to get the ‘Add-on #3’ the same day it was released, because the next day it was already sold out. The ‘Add-ink’ is still available here and the main kit here.
From the sneak-peaks I’ve seen on social media, I may have to save this kit as well, to document my vacation. I am hoping to have enough photos for a whole 6x8 album….. Lucky they sell cards packs from past kits, in case I run low on the DLS #32- “See you soon”, which was originally supposed to be the only kit I used for my vacation. The cards are freakin’ amazing.

Preparing to document my vacation Part #1- The journal
Hello all,
It’s almost vacation time for me and this time I am serious about documenting it properly. I am hoping to make a whole 6x8 album……let’s see how it goes.
In anticipation, I have scoured YouTube and Pinterest for some ideas on how to best do that, what supplies to take etc. So eventually I arrived to the conclusion that I shall make my own mini Fauxdori type of journal, big enough to put small memorabilia like tickets and business cards, but also Instax photos. I haven’t used my Instax camera nearly as much as it deserves.
My plan is to make a pocket in the front or back of the album to then keep the Fauxdori insert in. I want to use that as a journaling aid. My memory is quit bad, but I do like details, they make the story come to life, so I think I will bullet journal in there.
Making the Fauxdori (5 1/4 x 5 1/2 in)
I have been wanting to make a denim-bound book for a long time and this was the best opportunity to try that. I actually made two, on trial and one for real As I don’t sew, I had to resort to gluing my fabric around thicker cardstock scrapbook paper. It didn’t matter to me if it survives past this vacation, so there was no pressure to make it perfectly sturdy. I wanted it to small enough to fit in my purse. So I decided which jeans I want to sacrifice and went for it. I used double sided tape to bond the fabric and cardstock.
I have to add a note, that I used lighter denim fabric as I knew the real deal won’t stick with just double-sided tape and I was out of glue sticks.
I cut out the pockets and plan to attach it to front of the book. I want to find a nice ribbon first, but also, to bead and bedazzle the pocket. I will show you how it turned out in Part 2, hopefully next week.
The inserts are a simple notebook, I cut to make 2 smaller signatures. I still need to decorate those though. Instead of elastic, I used baker’s twine. Easy-peasy.
Now all that is left is to decorate the journal and also decide what to supplies to take.
I would love to hear from you: What shall someone with limited luggage space take on a 3 week vacation home? All suggestions are very appreciated.
Thank you, guys, and I hope to see you soon and…
Keep it crafty!
Love,
Vessy

[Document] Life Stories Kit #32- 'See you soon' + Announcement
Long time, no see. I hope you've been well:)
Today I want to start a new chapter on my blog. My actual true paper crafting addiction is Project Life and memory keeping in general. I don't know why I postponed sharing it with you for so long:)
In the next weeks I will photograph some of my 2016 pages, and soon I will also start sharing some Process videos, YAY! I am very nervous, yet excited about this:)
I thought it is only befitting to start with a share of the kit I am subscribed to. This is the Scrapdelight Document Life Stories (DLS) main kit and the Embellishment kit. This time I also got two add-on- Letters and Labels.
The main kit is available for purchase separately (without subscription), they always have extras on hand, also from the Add-ons. This is where you can find it and Here is a link to the Add-ons.
This month's kit is has a travel theme and is called "See you soon". I just loooove the colors this month. Probably my favorite thing are the flamingos and the VW hippy van- sooo cute.
Here is the whole kit together |
The 4x6 cards |
The 3x4 cards |
Doilies, die-cuts, cut-apparts, tiny word stickers, thread and flat enamel dots |
Wood veneer, sequin mix and a large sticker |
And don\t forget the wahsi + all in the awesome box all comes in |
The Embellishment kit |
The two add-ons |
This is the kit, I really love it! Unfortunately my vacation isn't until mid august, so I will get to use it in September. How will I ever make it. Luckily, there is another kit coming in August (Foodies) so I get to use that one:)
In the mean time, I need to use up some stash, ASAP.
Stay tuned for the upcoming Process videos and the official launch of the YouTube channel!
Hope to see you there very soon! Keep it crafty!
Love,
Vessy

Thank you CAS card
I also love the Color Throwdown challenges and the color pallet for this week( #367) is just gorgeous:) So I used those colors to watercolor my rose. I didn't have a green that came close to the challenge color, so I had to mix my own:) Which I love doing:) I used the Spectrum Aqua color Moss and Slate to achieve that. I have to say that my trial mixing batch came much closer than what you see on the photo. I added too much Slate color when I was painting the panel .However, the color photographed even darker, in real life it is more vibrant.
I used Distress ink in Abandoned Coral for the light rose color and Spectrum Aqua's Rose pink for the shadows. This worked out much better than my green experiment:) I was going to add Wink of Stella (another glossy goodness I love) but I loved in so much like it was. I used a watered down version of the green to color the center of my flower, just to give it some depth. I wanted to leave it mostly the card color (an ivory off-white like the third challenge color)
I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from a Your Next Stamp stamp set called Whatnot Sentiments. I love love love this stamp set. It has the most common used sentiments (Congrats, Celebrate, Cheers, Hello and Thank you) whirtten in this beautiful script style:)

CASEing Genius Challege entry- inspired by Deepti Malik
On year ago Kelly Latevola started the series "CASEing Genius" where she creates a card inspired by the card of one amazing and talented crafters. It is just such a great way to discover new talented fellow card makers and I am grateful for that.
To celebrate, she is hosting a CASEing Genius Challenge which I HAD to take part in!
Here is the genius I got inspired by : Deepti Malik. Her blog is Dee's Art Utopia and here is her "CASEin Genius" article. I got inspired by this card:
I want to nominate Sandy Allnock to be a Genius! I love her work and she definitely deserves to be CASE-ed. What a wonderful artist!
Have a sunny day!
